Leslie Wessman Leslie Wessman is the Director of the Midwest Brain and Learning Institute and the Professional Certificate Program. She is the Sonneveldt Professor Emeritae of Education at Hope College and retired after 45 years as an educator, including high school teacher, counselor and assistant principal of curriculum in Wyoming, Colorado, California, Rhode Island and Hawaii. In 1973, while teaching in Southern California, she was first introduced to the implications of brain research for learning and teaching (right-left brain theories). Since that time she has been on a mission—so much has changed over three decades! She was an in-service trainer and team-building consultant before joining the Education faculty at Hope College in 1990 where she taught Educational Psychology, the "Secondary Block" which encompassed Literacy Learning and Instructional Design for Adolescents.
