Welcome to the 2012 Midwest Brain and Learning Institute.

Learning about the latest in brain research to enhance teaching and learning by

  • bringing nationally known leaders in the neuroscience and education fields to the Midwest each June to interact with the educational community

  • offering an innovative opportunity for practicing educators to earn a Professional Certificate in Graduate Studies in Student Learning in a carefully crafted program that utilizes the Institute’s June session, on-line courses during the year, action research of one’s own practice, and support from expert coaches.


This year’s summer session of the Midwest Brain & Learning Institute, The Science and Art of Thinking, will be held June 25 – 27, 2012 in Holland, Michigan and will feature Dr. Adam Cox, clinical psychologist and author of No Mind Left Behind: Understanding and Fostering Executive Control – the Eight Essential Brain Skills Every Child Needs to Thrive,  Dr. Mary Helen Immordino-Yang, affective neuroscientist and human development psychologist, and Roberta Cramer, Education Specialist for the VanAndel Education Institute and Executive Director for the Michigan Science Teachers’ Association.  We are also recruiting now for the 8th cohort of the Graduate Studies in Student learning that begins at the 2012 Institute.
